Rare Cock Fighting Rooster Antique chair with brass casters and a sliding deck where the bookie would take his bets. What is a game Cock Fighting Chair you ask? These are very rare, during (illegal) cock fights, a bookie would use this chair to sit in. If someone who might be the law came in he would drop down the desk area and turn around and sit straight forward in the chair. When the coast was clear he would spin around and sit backwards in the chair with his legs spread on both side of the back ( this is why the back is so narrow) A wood flap would come up and become as desk area where bets where taken. As you can see there is a brass channel all the way around the back for putting on and taking off the gamblers work surface. Also two small dovetailed drawers for pens and things The two back legs have iron strapping for support of heavy bookies - repair This is in as is ORIGINAL condition from a southern estate. I HAVE personally never in all my 35 plus years of antiquing seen an item like this. I would think a museum might want this.

The chair is 31.5" tall by 24" by 25"

The deck for the bookie is 22" by 17 7/8" wide

Can be picked up in our shop in hilton head island or we can truck it to you.
